Wright Fibre Artists-children?

Provided I FIND my tickets to the fair, I will take a photo of my daughter, craftygirl's second place win in the weaving category for fourth grade.
In the meantime... what do you all want to do at the september meeting?

August Rush!

the august rush is in full swing and prevented me from making it to the last meeting. I ended up working overtime at a job, and was unable to drive to Buffalo from White Bear Lake in 45 seconds.
I did, however, connect with Sally and her things made it to the fair. (Let's not talk about MY weaving or lack thereof, and how my husbands day 'not' off meant I could not finish anything in the car on the way to the fair.  However my two children entered items in the education category, and for me, well, there is always next year. Go Sally!

July Meeting

Thanks to all of you who made it  to the meeting, had great fun and tried the dried watermelon.
Nancy and Verilette were working on shawls, Karen was knitting, Naomi was knitting socks, Sharon was weaving, and Sally was crocheting the edge of another one of Sharons' woven pieces, to prepare it for becoming a blanket. Barb is the exhausted owner of twin and triplet goats. Anyone in need of a goat?
We talked about volunteering at the Wright County Fair, getting items entered in the fair, both state and county, and working on the programs for the fall. Fall also brings a great retreat, Federation. $175.00 all inclusive for a weekend of weaving, spinning, dyeing or just hanging out. Consider going, we are! I am teaching inkle weaving at federation, if any are interested. the website is weaveminnesota.com

P.S. Do you see that tangle of yarn Karen is working on in the second picture? It is now a beautiful ball. Thanks Karen!

World Wide Knit in Public Day

Yes, Saturday June 14th was world wide knit in public day, and I was indeed knitting in public. It was a bit early in the day, and I was wearing a very shiny hat, Maryann will explain that to anyone who really needs to know.
But here I am knitting, and look, I found other knitters as well. It was a very good day.

Weaving for the Fair

Now is the perfect time to start weaving or spinning for the fair, county or state. You have plenty of time to get a good start on your project before the hot steamy weather sets in.
Go on.
I mean it.
